When our client in Shelby, MI, reached out to our team, they wanted to incorporate a visually appealing planter bed alongside their driveway while creating more privacy. To do this, we used large natural stones to build the raised planter bed, stacking them to flatten out the land. Once that was complete, we moved on to adding tall evergreen shrubs and a couple of small trees; not only are the shrubs beautiful, but they also serve as a privacy wall! After that, we meticulously laid brown mulch for the ground cover, covering the bed evenly to give it that finishing touch. We Used Large Stones to Build the Raised Planter Bed

Our client wanted to add visual interest to their yard in a purposeful way, which we achieved with a raised planter bed! We used large stones to build it, which runs alongside their driveway and wraps around into the backyard. We stacked them primarily in two layers, though some areas required three to keep the land flat throughout the entire planter bed. These stones bring a natural aesthetic, complementing their landscape perfectly and creating the perfect space for much-needed greenery.

The Next Step of This Raised Planter Bed Project Was to Add the Plants

Once we finished building the raised stone planter bed, the next step of this project was to add the plants. We incorporated some small trees at the ends of the planter bed for a cohesive look, but the main focus is the tall evergreen shrubs. The shrubs were installed along the driveway, which serve as beautiful focal points and a privacy wall! With their tall, thick shape and close proximity to each other, they help block visibility into the driveway area, which was equally important to the client as enhancing their property's appearance.

Installing Mulch in the Raised Planter Bed Was the Finishing Step of This Project

With the stone planter bed and plants installed, the final step of this project was to lay mulch! We spread brown mulch across the planter bed evenly, ensuring it's the proper thickness to benefit plant health while refining the overall look of their landscape. This ground cover blends in seamlessly, allowing the vibrant, green shrubs to stand out as the primary features. With this finishing touch complete, our client now has a purposeful landscape design, bringing visually striking elements and functioning as additional privacy for their property.
